Beautiful Drop Dead Gorgeous Razor Straight 1970 Buick GSX Replica that has had an Extensive and no Expense spared 514 Hour Concours Restoration that was finished last month. Correct GSX Saturn Yellow Paint, Correct GSX Striping and Logos the Frame was Powder Coated in correct Satin Black finish along with various Chassis, Suspension, Brackets, and Interior parts. I will go over each area in detail about this Pristine GSX Tribute:

Exterior:

The donor car for this project was a Rust Free Low Mileage (39K) 1970 Buick Skylark Custom from California. The Pristine Body was disassembled and stripped with baking soda and then sent to Marquis Restorations in Huntington Valley PA for an Extensive and Detailed Body-Off Concours Restoration (that truly shows throughout!). The Original sheet metal was massaged to perfection and then shot in Correct two stage Saturn Yellow Paint with the correct GSX Stripes and GSX Logos, Decals, etc. The paint was wet sanded and buffed to a Spectacular Show Car Finish, there was also a a VFN Fiberglass Stage 1 hood with rechromed Ram Air scoops and correct hood Tach and a correct rear GSX Spoiler installed, when the paint was done the body was finished with all new weather stripping, stainless steel trim, rechromed bumpers, new T3 Headlights and trim, tail light trim, Correct Buick Road Wheels with correct center caps and Goodyear Eagle GT2 (225/70/15 Front – 275/60/15 Rear) tires to complete the exterior.

Interior:

The mostly Original Interior has been restored and has a re-plated chrome dash gauge pod with new gauges and the Seats were recovered with correct Legendary Auto Interiors upholstery, also added is a correct nylon loop Pyle carpet. The Tilt Steering Column was completely rebuilt and a correct GSX steering wheel was installed. Options include Power Windows, Power Drivers Seat, Power Disc brakes (with correct GS power brake pedal), Power Steering and AM/FM Radio. The Original door panels were restored, new door handles inside and out, and new PW switches. Trunk is refinished with the correct Black & Aqua splatter paint.


Drivetrain:

455 Engine is built to Stage 1 Specs and painted correct Buick red. This engine was blueprinted by Tom Righter (local Buick Racer) to a 10.5 to 1 Compression ratio with all new internal parts. The engine has an SP 235 “step up” cam and has extensive stock appearing modifications such as a modified Quadrajet Carburetor, a breakerless ignition (no points) system from M&H Electric Fabricators and the distributor was blue printed by MRI Racing Ignitions, an aluminum Edelbrock Intake Manifold match-ported and painted the correct Buick red to appear stock, stock exhaust manifolds are ported and finished with stock appearing hi-heat paint. The heads have been extensively ported with all new Stage 1 Stainless Steel Valves, Stage 1 Valve Springs, and stock rocker arm assemblies, The stock appearing 2 ½” exhaust with X-pipe was supplied by PYPES. All engine compartment accessories such as brake booster and alternator were correctly refinished, a new wiring harness and aluminum core radiator were also installed, everything was rebuilt, replaced, etc. under the hood, a correct Turbo 400 Transmission with an 11” 2800 stall converter was built by Rich Brandi and installed, a rebuilt and correctly refinished epoxy painted 10 Bolt 8,5 Corporate rear with 3:73 Posi was also installed as well.

Chassis & Suspension:

The chassis was sand blasted and powder coated duplicating the Original factory finish, all the Front suspension parts were replaced and also powder coated to the same finish. All Urethane Bushings were installed, new front Disc Brakes, SS brake lines, fuel lines, springs, and shocks, gas tank, etc. The chassis when completed then had the Body installed back on.

Overall if you have read all of this I apologize for the length but there is a lot Money, Parts and Labor that went into this Beautiful Show Car, this is not a Driver by any means I paid for Quality work and it shows throughout, the attention to detail is evident whether you look at the Body, Interior, Engine Compartment, or Undercarriage. This Beautiful GSX Replica was built to Drive, Show, and Enjoy and is possibly one of the Best Replica’s out there! I have over $70K invested (with the $6500 I paid for the Car) in this car and YES I have every single receipt to show for it. The car to start this project had to be just right and it took forever to find a Solid foundation and then another 3 years to complete!! It would take a week to truly write everything done to this car but I did the best I can and hope you get the picture. This car is truly stunning, everything works, and is Brutally Fast with the exhaust tone to match it, it runs and drives Excellent!
