This is a one of a kind car that belongs to a friend/customer of mine and I will be sad to see it sell. The car is a custom 49 merc and has a lot of mods to it. We purchased the car with the body mod done and in primer with no interior or wires set up in the car it only ran. Once we got it to my shop and on the lift we knew it was something special. The guy who started the car was a welder by trade and did some job the entire frame is hand built from the ground up. He started with a corvette rear suspensio from about an 86 vette and built the frame forward to hold the power rack and pinon and a mustang II front suspension. He set up a full air ride suspension and it works great and lays the car down very nice for that "in the weeds" look. the frame was also set up to take the chevy 350 with a tri power carb set up, and a turbo 350 transmission and both of those work great. The brakes are 4 wheel disc so stopping the car is no problem. We installed a very nice set of brand new chrome 16 inch rims and tires so the car rides nice. There is a brand new aluninum radiator and a vintage a/c and heat system in the car. Under the hood we have custom polished stainless steel panel we had made and they cover the sides and firewall for that show look. The cover for the radiator support is body color and is also hand made. All the hoses are either stainless or braided to finish the look.

The inside of the car is also all custom. We started with a thinderbird rear seat that bends around the back of the car and modified it to fit the merc and it looks great. We also used the center console and covered it with the same material as the seats. The front seats are from a mitsu we removed the head rest's and did a custom 2 tone desging to all the seats and door panels. The drivers seat is a power seat and works great for that long cruise to whatever your destination. The dash is also all custom it has been covered with the same color material as the seats and center consloe and has had the glove box smoothed over. The a/c vents are cut and mounted in the passanger side bottom and in the center of the dash. For the gauge area we did a polished stainless panel made to keep with the theme under the hood and installed the needed gauges and are all new even the speedo. The colum is a tilt/telescopic from a caddy and we mount a gear selector on it that looks period correct. The doors have power windows and they work great and since the handles have been shaved off we have a door popper system with hidden buttons on the car to get in. In the center console we installed a touch screen am/fm cd player that also has a gps in it to get you to the shows without getting lost!Just under that is the controls for the air ride with the digital read outfor pressures in each wheel and the buttons to adjust it.We installed a back up camera for a rear view because you can necer see out of a chopped roof very well. The trunk is also finished to match the inerior and we installed a power trunk lid system to open and close the lid from a switch mounted inside the car. The filler neck was also located in the trunk and behind the forward panel is the battery and air suspension valves and compressor system. We installed a kill switch outside the car and we also installed a jumper set up or for a trickle charger to keep the battery fully charged so you can never get locked out by a dead battery.

Now for the body it has been finished in a ppg paint that is a blue on the bottom and silver on the top and down the trunk a very different paint desgin and has a pink line between the 2 colors the two town was also followed into the door jams to keep it looking right. Then the paint was covered ina prism flake so when you look at the car the flake makes it change color it looks awesome! And then we added a little pinstrip and a small mercury head to the trunk lid.Before the car was painted it had some seroius body mods a chopped top about 4 inches both the front and rear bumpers were removed and custom roll pans installed and molded to the body. It has freched headlights and 59 caddy taillights. The trunk doors and fenders are all smooth with no handles or mouldings. The hood has been rounded on the ends and fit to the body. The grill is from a 57 corvette and the most unusual thing is the suicide door's this was a hand built system that is built so strong you can stand on the doors and they wont drop.
