This car was purchased from Motor Sales Company of Columbus 1300 5th Avanue Columbus, GA by an auto mechanic working at the dealership on June 17th 1948. It has remained in thelocal area with threedifferent owners including myself. I purchased the car on Aug 23rd 1987 which had been out of operation due to a family death since sometime in the late 60's. For most if it's life, the carhad beenkept inside except when in use. The odometer reading was 82,928 miles.I first restored the car to it's orignal condition and made gradual changes over the next 14 years to bring itto thepresent (trophy winner) show condition. The car is powqered by a 283ci engine with a 350 transmission and a 1980 Oldsmobile rear end with 3.48 gears, otherwise the car is orignal except for the following up-grades: VintageAir, Cruse Control, Audio Vex Sound with hidden antenna, Specialty Wipers, VDO Instruments, 1948 Chevrolet Wiper Bezels, Fulton Sun Visor andWindow Vent Shades, Outside Rear View Mirrow, 3rd Brake Light, Blue dottail light reflectors, after market Oldsmobile Rocket Valve Covers, 16" Center Line Wheels with Good Year Tires and Custom Rocker Pannel Mouldings. The Custom Paint and Interior was done in 2001. There is a small spot on the rear seat bottom and the exterior paint is showing some signs of age but is still in great shape, All chrome has been redone over the years and is in great shape. I have the orignal Car Invoice from June 1948 and most all receipts and a maintenance record since Aug 1987. Georgia does not issue titles for thisyear car so itcan onlybe sold on a clear bill of sale. This is a driver/show car. It has been driven tonumerous in and out of state car showsand several pleasure trips during the past 24 years. I have only located one other 1948 Oldsmobile 76 series 4 door and it is in a Kansas salvage yard.Drive this one home.
