The chrome-laden Pontiac Chieftan was one of the first all-new Pontiac car designs in the post WWII era. This car features much work done in 1995. The exterior was re-painted. The bumpers and grille were re-chromed. The engine and transmission were overhauled as well. The carpeting was replaced. The brakes were re-aligned and drums turned. The wheel bearings were packed and wheel cylinders replaced, all in 1995. Thiswork has approximately 15,000 miles logged thus far.

This beautiful example features exceptional brightwork throughout along with a dry climate original body and undercarriage. This is a Texas car and it shows. The original Texas inspection sticker from 1973 is still on the windshield and the Texas Dealer Insignia is still the back.

Open the door to 1951. This interior is original to the car, showing some wear, but remarkably intact throughout. The headliner is in exceptional condition as is the rear seating. The carpeting was replaced in 1995.

The dash displays beautiful all original chrome throughout along with this working original AM radio. Be sure to play our video/sound clip of this '51 Pontiac in action.

The engine and transmission were overhauled in 1995. At that time, the fuel pump was replaced, the carburetor rebuilt, the starter replaced, generator rebuilt, and the cooling system removed, cleaned and re-installed.

Under the hood is the smooth running Pontiac Straight Eight. This 268 cubic inch flathead 8 was available in Pontiac Chieftans from 1949 until 1955. Horsepower levels rose to 116 for 1951. The engine compartment displays the original firewall, inner fenders, and core support.

The original option identification plate is intact.

The undercarriage features original flooring and framework throughout. This is a dry climate car and it shows. In 1995, the shocks were replaced and the brakes were gone through completely.

The trunk is complete with a spare tire/wheel, jacking equipment and spare.

Many of our photos of this classic '48 were taken at the historic Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom.

The paint shows well throughout, with minor imperfections on closer inspection. The body is exceptionally straight and clean throughout. All of the glass in in good condition as well.

The Chieftan rides on its original wheels and "Chief" hubcaps. The tires are B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Wide Whitewalls.
