1969 Pontiac Executive 4 door hardtop
Pontiac 400, 2 bbl, auto.
125,924 original miles1 of 25,845 made in 1969
Yellow exterior with white vinyl roof
Interior is pearl white vinyl seats and doors with black dash and carpet
Deluxe wheel covers, factory electric windows, floor mats, clock, A/C, T3 headlights
Won 1st Place in her class in St. Louis' All Pontiac Show in 1993
Purchased by me in 1988 from 2nd owner with 38,000 orig. miles
Once a real head turner and can be again but has been stored in the barn and now needs attention
Needs a battery, tune-up, oil change, bolt repair on intake manifold on carburetor and a tailpipe. In need of minor rust repair above rear wheel wells and around vinyl top on rear quarters. Interior plastic door pillars and plastic pieces by rear window are deteriorating from sitting (see photos in slideshow). The light spots you see on seats and door panels are mildew. A wash, wax and interior detailing would do wonders. Has been meticously maintained up until my diagnosis 11 years ago and I know I am not doing her any favors by keeping her stored in the barn. Even sitting in the barn right now covered in dust she is a beautiful car. A little time and attention and you will have yourself a dream boat.

It was 1969in a quaint and tidy South St. Louis neighborhood that a bank executive's widow named, "Lucille" decided that today was the day for her to get something she always wanted, a new Cadillac. She got dressed and went to the local Cadillac Dealer near her home and found one she liked. She waited and waited and waited for a salesman to assist her to no avail. Finally she had had enough of waiting and being ignored and left the Cadillac dealership in a huff. She was on a mission to buy herself a new car, so she stopped byVincelPontiac and it was there where she walked into the showroom and found this beautiful yellow Pontiac Executive and a salesman that was more than happy to help her make the car hers. She bought it off the showroom floor.

She brought it home where her and the car remained together until her death sometime in the early 1980's. It was then that her long time neighbor, a St. Louis Judge and his family purchased it from her estate. They had been good friends and neighbors to Lucille and had looked in on her in her older years and they remembered distinctly the day she brought the big yellow Pontiac home. They shared stories with me about how Lucilleand the car never ventured far from home. Only to the local Beauty Shop, the Grocery Store and Church which is why the car had only 17,000 miles on it when they purchased it shortly after Lucille's death. They also shared how he would be in their driveway washing their own car on a summer's day when suddenly he would hear their neighbor Lucille's garage door open and he would hear the old yellow Pontiac start up and without fail Lucille would ask him to please wash her car too, which he always said he was happy to do because he too loved the old Pontiac. They also shared that up until the day Lucille died she would always tell people, "if I only would of had on my mink coat instead of my plain wool coat that salesman would've waited on me at the Cadillac dealership and I would've gotten my Cadillac".

The St. Louis Judge and his wife shared their own story regarding the yellow Pontiac. They have four daughters who grew up knowing the car from when it was next door with Lucille then later on when it came to their home. As the girls grew up they each eventually all married and the old yellow Pontiac was there to carry the new bride and groom away each time. Each of the four girls used the car in their weddings. It's lovingly known as, "The Wedding Car" in their family.

I myself am a lover of old cars and must admit that I fell in love with this car as soon as I saw it for the first time in 1988. It is still a beautiful car and rides like your living room sofa. It was our own "Wedding Car" in our wedding in 1992. Life happens, time goes by and things take precedence over other things and before I knew it our old yellow Pontiac was beginning to show the effects of sitting in storage in the barn. I always said that when this, that, or the other happens then I am going to get the old car fixed and drive her around on Sundays but that time has never come. I know I am not doing the old car any favors by keeping it so it is time to let it go to someone else who will hopefully appreciate it. I debated whether to share the car's story here or not and I know to some it will matter and to others it won't but I felt it should be told.Andthat's it. That's her story.
